The use of alloys with appropriate properties determines the safety and reliable functioning of many installations and structures. Stainless steel pipes available in our offer differ in the technologies used and the finish. We have briefly described them below.

Annealing of welded tubes

This is a heat treatment process, in which stainless steel is first heated to a specific temperature. It is maintained for a longer period, and then slow cooling takes place. A stainless steel pipe subjected to such treatment has improved mechanical properties, and the welded joint becomes more stable.

Surface type

Depending on your needs and preferences, you can choose from polished, matt and brushed stainless steel tubes.

Polishing removes any roughness from the surface of the product. This is particularly important in mechanical engineering, where it is desirable to minimise friction between components.

Matt stainless steel is a good choice if you’re looking for resistance to scratches and dirt. The matting process does not make the steel more susceptible to corrosion.

A brushed finish is a sort of compromise between a matt finish and a high-gloss finish. Visually, it produces an effect similar to satin, which reflects light to a slight degree but is not as prone to showing dirt.

Cold and hot pressing

Plastic working allows the final shape of the product to be altered. Pipes and stainless steel subjected to this process also undergo changes in their structure and mechanical properties. Extrusion is one such process, which involves shaping the material using a special die.

During cold-forming, the stainless steel is not heated to its recrystallisation temperature. As a result of this process, the material acquires new magnetic properties and becomes harder and more resistant to crushing.

Hot extrusion involves heating the alloy to a temperature above its recrystallisation temperature, which allows for significantly greater deformation compared with the cold extrusion method.

Quality and safety

The stainless steel pipes are manufactured in accordance with the DIN 17458 standard and, like other products manufactured by Cromo-Stal, are certified by the National Institute of Public Health in Warsaw.
